Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival 2018 Marks its Return

With the astounding success of its inaugural edition last year, the Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival will be returning on the 28th -29th September 2018 at the Kuching Waterfront, Grand Margherita Hotel. This event is organised by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) through its operating unit, Grand Margherita Hotel, and is managed by Place Borneo Sdn Bhd. The event is fully supported by the State’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth & Sports as well as related tourism agency such as Sarawak Tourism Board.

The organizer had unveiled headline acts such as Sarawakian songstress, Dayang Nurfaizah, Blues Gang (Malaysia), Tompi (Indonesia) and Carmen Souza (UK/Portugal) during the press conference today.  The 2-day jazz festival will feature artistes and bands from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Australia, USA and Portugal. Sarawakian-born, international concert pianist Jolynn Chin, will also be making a return to this year’s festival. KWJF2018 is expected to reveal the full festival line up in the coming weeks.

The launch of the festival was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, whom commented

“I applaud the efforts of the KWJF organizers and the Ministry encourages events and festivals in Sarawak to increase destination visibility and awareness and will continue to lend its support for such initiatives. It is great to see people of various age groups converging at this event and witnessing class acts performing in Sarawak.”

In conjunction with KWJF2018, Jazz Band Search will be held on the 28th July 2018 at the Godown Amphitheater (Kuching Waterfront) whereby the winner of the competition will be the opening act at the KWJF2018.
