Ushera, is a Jazz singer-songwriter who performs 'Nona Malaya' musical style with a contemporary twist. Ushera does not only evoke nostalgic memories among members of Malaysia’s older generation, but also captured interest among Malaysia’s younger generation by transporting them to the bygone era of yesteryear Malaya. She has performed in reputable jazz festivals in Malaysia and Singapore, and had support from MyCreative Ventures, a government investment arm, to elevate her unique artistry (and also as music entrepreneur). Ushera recently (released her 1st album in 2016) released a musical project titled 'Semalam di Malaya', in which she revived classic Malaya songs from the early 1940s to the late 50s with her own lyrics and arrangement by composer Ganesh Bala. When not singing, Ushera teaches vocals and runs her her music school business; the Ouch Music Academy in Bukit Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur.
